About Us

In 2007, the late John Allinson suggested the men of Mildura determine community interest in a Sunraysia Men's Shed. With feedback being positive, a Steering Committe was formed. In November 2012, after many false starts and temporary homes, the Sunraysia Men's Shed was incorporated. Moves were then made to finalise site selection and to begin construction.

Men's Shed members

Catering to men of all ages in Sunraysia, the shed commenced operations in April 2013, with the first order of business being the interior design and construction of the shed. The main shed comprises of an automotive workshop, woodworking, metalwork, a craft area, and paint shop. In an attached annex, there is a library, computer room, kitchen, administration area, and display area.

The main shed covers an area of 360m², with the annex covering 90m². Additionally, there is also a 12m container and lean-to, with an expansion planned for early 2020.

The shed welcomes all men of Sunraysia and visiting travellers, who seek companionship and a chance to work on their equipment.

The shed was officially opened by the then Mayor of Mildura Rural City Council Cr Glenn Milne, on the 4th of May 2013.

The shed is open for sessions from 9:00AM to Noon on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. There are currently around 140 members of the Shed, with 50 regular attendees.

Residents and visitors of Mildura are welcome to come along and join in the activities, meet the members, and have a cup of tea or coffee. Local and visiting Veterans are particularly welcome.
